Great resource.

I'm going to ignore 7.62x54r's sig and ask a stupid question. Why are the screws measured in imperial instead of metric?

Great resource.

Because my caliper is in inches. :D Seriously, the Russian's bought the original tooling from England and the M91 was built to an inch pattern. Remember, the metric system wasn't adopted until after the Revolution (I don't know the exact date offhand). All subsequent Mosins maintained the same patterns and screws from the earliest M91s will fit the last M44s and vice versa. I imagine they used a metric designation later though.

I guess I should add that info to the page.

..." The Mosin was adopted on April 16th, 1891, 27 years, 4 months, and 30 days earlier.
I knew there had to be a reason that Mosins always call my name....I was born 64 years to the day after its adoption...:D
