I've inquired about some new condition unissued transitional forends ,inletted for the magazine cut off but not the volley sights ,from another dealer, they ran out before I got back to them but tell me to check back at the end of January.
Several sites offer unissued replacement buttstocks and forends, expensive but probably worth the price in the long run, if they are from the manufacturers correct for your rifle.
One site in the UK has listed some of these transitional fore ends modified to duplicate the original Mk III configuration inletted for the volley sight disc and folding peep.

There are plenty of later Mark III* fore-ends about made in Enfield in the 1950s. They cannot be inlet for volley sights, they are made to the later design which is not deep enough nor does it have the correct shape on the side, behind the mid-band.

That's the reason we invested in having new Mark III fore-ends made.

The Mark I Mark III and mark V are all the same basic external shape but have different features.

The late Mark III* is a different shape altogether.
