Thanks

I have seen lots of items......all fakes for the most part. Since Band of Brothers, the amount of fake 101st and in particular the 506PIR have multiplied exponentially. It is becoming as big a mine field as German SS stuff.

I volunteer in the USO here in Great lakes and I seem to remember some items on the display cases which were from the series. They were donated by the actors I guess. Patches, replica dog tags and signed photographs.
The place is being renovated and some of the displays are just lying there unsecured.
I'll try to get a few pictures if they're still there (and not stolen).
Band of Brothers was what convinced me I should/must go AIRBORNE.
Not very many members of my country's Police Force are Jump qualified and those who are walk with a certain swagger.
Guess it goes without saying..

I live in SW Kentucky, 15 miles or so from Ft. Campbell, home of the 101st, I have lived here most of my life. The 101st has an excellent museum on base that civilians are welcome to visitl. I am ashamed to admit that I have never visited there. I intend to rectify that in the near future and if allowed ( and I think it is) I will make a few pics and will post them. Can't give a definite date, but I will. I have been on post many times, just never visited the museum there. Most of my visits have been made to the VA clinic there, but it closed a bit over a year ago and opened a branch in a nearby city. Since it's move, I have just not had the need to travel on post. Lately the security has increased and unless you have a post car permit, the process of getting a visitors pass is a bit time consuming.

I live in England where much of the TV series was filmed, the year after the filming lots of the repro uniforms, webbing, equipment, dummy Garands etc was sold off on the militaria market - I remember seeing piles of it at the annual "war and peace" show

no doubt this will resurface as authentic WW2 kit sooner or later

I've seen a good bit of real items, helmets, bayonets, etc. all attributed to the 101st with no proof to back it up. Anything to raise the sale price.
