Im going to attempt to reunite some Rifles with their correct matching port bayos.

Please PM me or post here your rifle serial and bayo and scabbard serials.

PORT contract rifles only as they are the only german rifle to match the serials with the bayos.

Every PORT had a matching bayo at some point so lets give it a shot.

If you email me your info, it will be kept confidential and I will ask you before sharing it if I find a match.

This will be cross posted on k98k and GB and CGN

The rifle I Have has a stock matching to the rifle's serial number and has a Port crest pressed into the buttstock. I honestly don't know if this fits into the category you are looking for but I thought I would mention it.

Sounds like an RC with a port contract stock. Is the "matching" serial stamped inside the barrel channel or on the left side of the buttstock?

Post pics if u can. I can add the original receiver number into my list, just want to see what you have. If the receiver is S/42 then it is likely a rework of some sort.

As I stated the rifle's serial number is 431p. The 431 also appears inside the stock's barrel channel as well as inside the handguard's barrel channel. The left side of the buttstock has the Portuguese crest with 1937 under it. Under that is the number B 18403. The right side has a DE WaA 63 along with an eagle/swastika stamp. Down from the pistol grip knob is 431 with the letter p below the number. Below that is a DE WaA DE63.

The receiver nor any other part of the rifle does not show any evidence of Russian capture markings. The receiver has a combination of Wiemar proofs as well as DE63 proofs. There are four SE63 proofs at the 6 o'clock position on the barrel just forward of the receiver along with 37S:27 as well as a number of proof marks on the flat portion of the receiver behind the recoil lug. The right side of the receiver has three DE63 proof marks in a straight row.

The trigger guard, floorplate and follower are matching. The two guard screws are Waffenampted and marked 31. The capture screws are marked with straight winged eagles. Trigger, sear, bolt release are marked 31. The complete bolt including the firing pin match. The reinforcing cross bolt is WaA SE63. The bolt dissasembly doughnut is SE WaA63 (both sides). In the cutout for the sling keeper is a number 4. The bayonet lug is marked SE63 (left end) 31 (right end). The cleaning rod does not match. The front barrel band is marked SE63 431 and the rear barrel band is marked SE63 31. All components of the rear sight (including spring) are WaA63. Front face of front sight SE63.

Any of this help?

Curious why this 1937 S42 would be considered a rework?

Ar-50a1,

Great description. Is there really no way you can post up some pics? I would love to see your example.

1937 S42 431p
I thought it might be a rework as you stated its a 37 S/42, S/42 is a receiver code, in your following post you list it sort of as a barrel marking.
You rifle sounds like a Portuguese K98K from the 1937 contract. Unfortunately I am not tracking the 37s as they are alot less common then the 1941. And the 41s were mostly released with their matching bayos.

I will record your serial number in case I ever come across it.
