From what I have read the markings on the sling represent a rack number of sorts or maybe a unit number or some other group identification. My Type 38 came with an original sling. The original is in pretty rough shape so I use a reproduction in an effort to preserver the original. Anyway, in an effort to learn I am curious if the markings on mine are just numbers or if they may have some other identifiable meaning? I have seen some common markings and numbers from 1 through 10 but I can't find all of these.

Most of the reproduction slings I've seen, if they mark them, they use white paint. Wonder if it means anything or just whatever's handy that contrasts with the sling.

Not sure on the sling, I have no experience with originals. But I can't NOT comment on that stock on the rifle.

Either its been sanded to hell or its a reproduction of some sorts? I gotta see this yellow wood thing!
Either way, please start staining that baby darker immediately as it looks like an Arisaka abomination if the camera is showing it correctly!
