Hello all,

I am looking at acquiring my first Japanese rifle, an Arisaka Type 99 Short rifle. The rifle in question is a Toyo Kogyo arsenal 32nd series. The Chrysanthemum is intact, appears to be matching numbers, and has a dustcover installed. Is there anything in particular I need to beware of on these rifles?

You might want to check the chamber to see if it has been "re-chambered" to 30/06 caliber. Some of these rifles were re-chambered so that they could fire the 30/06 ammo or have ammo reloaded with the proper size bullet in 30/06 cases. If the chamber is "original", ammo "can" be reloaded for it using reformed/resized, shortened and trimmed 30/06 cases.
