The M1891 Argentine carbine was a cavalry carbine. Then, after the M1909 carbine became available, the M1891 carbine was modified with two extra barrel bands to be a M1891/31 Engineer Carbine. Your stock shows evidence of having had that modification but the two extra bands (rear extra band with bayonet lug and front side swivel, front extra band with "muzzle ring" type front bayonet lug) are missing. The rear side swivel was relocated from behind the trigger guard. The added front side swivel might have been installed in Argentina but I question that. I suspect it to be an importer modification. There was a group of such carbines imported some years back.

The only question remaining is "Where did the front side swivel come from"?

I don't think the front swivel was done in Argentina. I think either the importer or Bubba.
