my guess would be November 6th, 2012 at the earliest!:(
Or Dec 21, 2012-that's when the world ends according to the Mayan calender. ;) Seriously, prices I don't think are going to go back down to what they were a year ago. They may go back down when people who gorged themselves on buying rifles, ammo, and mags due to the "Panic of 08" run out of cash and if Obama does nothing about guns in the first six months of office.

The trouble with prices is they go up alot and down a little. Thats why we don't have 6 cent bread and 12 cent gas like my folks talk about. I think they will come down some but not all the way. 40 years ago you could buy a luger for 50.00 have you priced one lately?

I remember $35.00 Lugers in early 1960s......$50.00 would get you a G43 or MP40 back then.........Have you priced either of these lately?

I been thinking about Lugers and such as a comparison myself.

The imports from 5 years ago were $250 or so.
Now they are $700.
I have a few from the $25-$50 days.

Are we crooks if we sell them at market prices?

For anybody paying attention all this stuff today was obviously coming.

The ones crying were asleep at the wheel.

The misguided socialists now in charge on many levels are going to make life difficult for freedom lovers.
But hey, it's for the children.

IRC, back around Y2K, the prices were surging too, but things calmed down a year later until we hit 9/11, then went up again, and then came back down, then after 2004 ban went away, prices have generally stayed low....until this election.

It's amazing that many new gun owners are buying guns now...and I won't be surprised a number of them voted for Obama. So if we have more gun owners, wouldn't it mean that there's even bigger resistance against new gun ban laws?

Prices are up on AK's and AR's and ammo now because of two groups:

Nervous ninnies who got all panicky after the election, and speculators who rush to buy up anything that they think will be in demand later.

When those groups quit buying up everything in site regardless of the price, things will stabilize.

I've noticed a trend on the auction sites. when AK clones sell for ridiculus prices, most of the time the buyer is someone with very few transactions on his record. That suggests that it's someone relatively new to gun-buying, either a panicker or a speculator who hopes to re-sell those guns to you and me at a profit once they are banned.

The best thing that could happen for everyone is for no ban to occur and prices to fall when supply catches up, stinging the hell out of the speculators and leaving them with a closet full of thousand-dollar WASR's.

It is my understanding that the folks who produce the AR lowers cannot readily obtain all of the other parts to finish complete rifles. The demand has exceeded the supply.

Looking at prices from 40-50 years ago doesn't mean much because wages also were proportionate. In 1960, the average Joe considered himself fortunate to be working at a job that paid $100-150 a week. In 1967, my first job in the big city, paid $.75/hr, albeit as an unskilled farm kid, and I thought I was living high on the hog when I got a good construction job at $1.10 an hour in 1969 and could afford to buy a brand new Dodge pickup for $1,300. It is true that buying power of the dollar has declined, but still the comparisons don't mean much.
