My dad was an XO on PCS 1426, subchaser/ minesweeper. Carribean and Pacific theater. At wars end he was sent to Operation Crossroads for the Able test because of his degree in biology. Passed away at age 57 in 1981. All his brothers and sisters lived into their 90's. Was investigating his wartime service and was told by the Navy he left the day before the blast. I remember him telling me about the flash. Have the letters he wrote home about it. Welcome opinions or comments Brown Handwriting Wood Font Rectangle

A radioactive 'black' cloud passed over Adelaide in 1956 during the Maralinga tests.
