I was at my bank the other day taking care of some business and asked a question I had been pondering for a while to the gentleman that helped me. I told the guy that I avoid the bank when I am carrying my gun and that sometimes that was a pain. He told me that Wells Fargo has no problem with me carrying my gun in there. He also told me that B of A and a few others have policies against their customers carrying guns in the lobby.

I looked at the front door as I was leaving and there are no signs saying "no guns or weapons" anywhere. Just one more reason I bank at Wells Fargo. You best check at your location before struting in the front door with your side arm, but here in the 'Wild West' we can carry our guns...

I was reading my BofA safe deposit box agreement recently and there were words to the effect that storing guns in the SD box was not permitted and if they happened to open
your box for any reason (what reason would they have?) and find a gun they will dispose of it as they see fit.

I don't like banks. Me and Chase went round and round a few years back when they tried to take my house (that was paid for) because they didn't want to pay off a big loan that had a death insurance policy on it when my wife passed away. It took over a year before they finally decided that me and my lawyer wasn't going to back down.

I use a Credit Union now. Not saying they don't have policies, but at least I get to vote on them.

We now have Wells Fargo in NC. The word of caution is state law may provide you can not carry concealed, even with a permit in a bank, as is the case in NC.
No problem here from what I can tell. Found a story about a guy who stopped a Credit Union robber with his legally owned concealed carry gun. Funny that didn't make the news isn't it? I also saw a quote by a bank employee encouraging all the legal guns he could get in the bank. That didn't make the news either... I wonder why???

You may want to rethink how great Wells Fargo really is, check out the top banner on the below link. Also do a quick google search on wells Fargo anti gun and a lot pop's up.

I'll take Wells Fargo over B of A any day, plus with our choices of banks here I think I will be staying where I am at for now.

B of A is one of the most antigun organizations in this country. I refuse to do any business with them.

Well, we don't have BA or WF here. So no problem at all.

Fortunately, we have sort of liberal laws and all they can do is ask you to leave (if you have a ccw license).

I never walk into a bank with a concealed weapon, I wasn't sure about wells fargo that I bank at, or the other one, but I never asked. My local wells fargo has been robbed many times by low level criminals who were caught an hour or so later, so I just would have figured they have a metal detector or know who has a gun, I mean, I would hate be in line and then suddenly get told by police running in to not move with my hands in he air, etc etc. I don't really prefer wells fargo for other reasons, but I just feel strange about walking into a bank with a concealed weapon, I mean, what if it was robbed, I pulled out my gun in response for my safety, then I'm identified as one of the gang of bank robbers, etc, just another reason to put the gun away if I have one then walk into the bank.

I would think that choosing a bank because of a gun issue has got to be very narrow sighted.

I won't go into details about banks and their predetory practises, but a gun issue would not be a issue when it comes to my money.

I would be more concerned with how they handle my money, and the different endless ways they can screw customers.

I could relate a story about Wells Fargo and how they handle accounts for Vets and SS gov. checks that are supposed to be protected by law, from predetor collection agencies. Big stink of illigial activity by the banks and led to the Gov. sanctioned Direct deposit system being put into place. The Direct deposit for gov. checks system protects the gov. checks from seisure, which is law. Because of the practises by WF and collection agencies that ignored the law. This was a nation wide practise by some banks.

But that would take up pages of band width.

Besides, you can always CCW, and no one would know.

Above post about NC having a state law against carrying in a bank is a new one to me. There are no laws like that in any of the Western states that I am aware of.

The most a bank can do is ask you to leave if you carry. Or you can be charged with trespassing. That is all.

CCW in banks is common here. No need to be concerned, all they can do is ask you to leave. But if it doesn't print, how would anyone know you are carrying.

There are some restrictions on Gov. buildings and schools with CCW, and maybe a few more I don't know about. But not on private property like a bank.

We hear this all the time from tourist with CCW in casinos here in L.V.

Any NC private business can post a no CCW logo at their door and you may not bring in a licensed concealed weapon. The original law also provided you may not take one in a business who sales alcohol, school or state university, bank, etc.. Any licensed person who does so can be charged with a felony. A person without such a license and carrying concealed is charged with a misdemeanor on the first such offense and a felony the second time. There are so many ways to end up in more legal trouble, and more seriously charged, with a CCP in NC I elected to not get one.

This is all from memory and from when the license first was permitted. I will review the law and edit where I could have misremembered. Luckily, a provision that required the applicant to get statements of good mental health from all mental health facilities within X miles was struck down pretty early on. I am not sure that would help even if you were nuts, especially if your treatment was in another remote location.

Update. I am more confused than ever but one website, "USA Carry" says you may not carry in any financial institution. I can not find that on the official NC site. As I recall my bank has a no concealed carry sign posted anyway but I use the drive though and rarely go in any more. Any place with such a sign is one of the bigger problems. So many do. On alcohol, one site say its a no no if they sale or allow consumption of alcohol and one says you are prohibited to enter only if there is a no concealed sign and if they are only sale alcohol. Plus, it is also a no no to carry if you pay admission and they both sale and allow consumption. Clear as mud. One thing did seem clear, if you have any alcohol in your system, even a trace, and carry anywhere you are in violation. Therefore going to get a sixpack after you drank your last beer, even one, could be a problem.

Other interesting prohibited places include any building containing state or federal employees. Any state rest area or rest stop(have to lock it in the trunk), any state owned fishing or hunting preserve, any school including private schools, etc..

Also interesting that you may not have a BB, or sharp object, on school property.

I did confirm that a first offender carrying without a permit in most of the prohibited places gets a misdemeanor but a person with a permit gets a felony charge.

I do not like banks either . I can watch my own money , don't have to have anybody take care of it for me .
my hobby is collecting $100.00 bills , putting a large stack of them in glass jars and burying them on my property .
easy as pie , small town , no sidewalks , no neighbors , nobody watching , espcially at night . plant a small shrub ,
never forget where the savings account is hiding. done deal .

Looking into AZ law and talking to the guy at the bank open carry is fine there. Although some of the customers get nervous, the bank reassures them it is okay and legal. Not sure I would be comfortable enough to open carry there. I am uncomfortable opening my Swiss Army Knife while at the teller to open an envelop with the check I am cashing. One thing to understand about these banks also is the tellers are behind like 1" thick bullet proof glass.
