I just bought a 1944 Tula ex-sniper from Dunhams. What I find interesting is the reciever. It is a 1944 Izhevsk reciever that is overstamped with a Tula star. How common was it for Tula and Izhevsk to share recievers like this?

I think it was a common practice to stamp over on refurbs.

I have a 1943 Tula Ex PU that's in a 1941 Izhevsk receiver.

I believe Vic said in my thread back at the "old house" that at a time barreled actions were supplied to Tula from Izhevsk. That Tula would stamp all their info on the shank during the completion of the rifle's manufacture.
