Been through it. An attempt by the company that has the "encoding" patents to make $$$$. It's been shot down everywhere so far.
Why not take your tiny file or stone and remove that tiny number before you go and commit a crime? Or what if you jacked the gun or bought it from some guy in an alley and you don't care?Why not have a tiny number engraved around the firing-pin hole of everybody's gun?
