Hey, guys.. new member, very pleased to be here! Just a few lines about one of favorite rifles, and an invite for opinions. I have a very nice late war CE 44 98, J.P. Sauer and Sohn, with almost all matching numbers from stem to stern except for one exception. The number on the bolt handle/bolt body doesn't, but the gas shield and safety on the bolt DO match! bolt number is only a few digits off the rest of the rifle, like the bolt body came fairly close when it was assembled. I suspect an armorer's repair, as thought the original bolt may have had a flaw of sort, the gas shield and saftey were pulled off, and added to the next bolt body in line. It's a vet bring back, and like the orange juice, is simply unfooled around with! Close to all matching, but no cigar!
