I've been looking at some lower cost (under $200) shooting rests. Primos Group makes one I've seen for under $100, Caldwell makes a few for under $200. Any advice on any rests in this price range would be appreciated.

I use a Caldwell "Lead Sled"... If memory serves me correctly, I paid $69.95 for it a year or so ago...


It's too big and clunky to take every time you go to the range, but is great for zeroing your iron sights and/or scopes...

It is a substantial shooting rest/gun vise... plenty of adjustment for leveling and zeroing... Will also take some recoil off your shoulder if shooting .270, 30-06 etc..

If you are just looking for a shooting rest to take to the range, you may be better off with bags...

Tojak, do you have any problems using 30 round magazines with it? I just want it for sighting. Can you use it to for pistols, too?

I use "stripper-clips"... Never tried any 30 round mags with the "lead sled"... Just looking at it, it is offset, so it does have some clearance for extended mags, although don't think a 30 rounder would have the clearance needed...

Lead sled is made for a rifle... suggest a good "two-hand" hold for a pistol...
