I recently picked up an Izhevsk M91 after the serial number there is a letter (the letter G) that is a different stamp style and is not on any of the other S/Ns, does this signify anything or is it another random stamp.

For a little more background the the rifle is a hex receiver, year is 1915, "INSTRUCTIE" stamped stock with the red band around it, butt plate S/N matches the barrel S/N, barrel crest is scrubbed but receiver appears to be just very worn.

So she's Balkan then. Thanks for the input, just trying to get a little more info on her history. I can't resist these old war horses, when I see them cheap I have to get them.

I knew about the "INSTRUCTIE" giving it a Romanian history, actually that is what caught my eye when I saw it on the rack. I was just curious if the suffix had any meaning.

I would have grabbed it too! I can't say I've seen one at any shows I've been too in my area. Certainly harder to find these days than other variations I'd say. You should post some more photos if ya get the chance, haha!
