yesterday, the famous french mercenary leader and warrior Bob Denard passed away after a long illness. He became famous for his involvement in the Congo wars in the 60' and later on lived a life of adventure which ultimately led to him being the virtual ruler of the Comores after a succession of coups, supported by his personal army of Legion veterans and mercenaries. He was later deposed by the french government and accused of killing the previous Comores president. He was eventually acquited of all charges. The story of his life can be found in in his autobiography "Corsaire de la republique" (Corsair of the republic), of which i am honored to have received a personally dedicated copy some years ago.
