yesterday, the famous french mercenary leader and warrior Bob Denard passed away after a long illness. He became famous for his involvement in the Congo wars in the 60' and later on lived a life of adventure which ultimately led to him being the virtual ruler of the Comores after a succession of coups, supported by his personal army of Legion veterans and mercenaries. He was later deposed by the french government and accused of killing the previous Comores president. He was eventually acquited of all charges. The story of his life can be found in in his autobiography "Corsaire de la republique" (Corsair of the republic), of which i am honored to have received a personally dedicated copy some years ago.
Best Regards, A

Definitely an interesting person and life.

Along that line, we just recently lost famed AVG/Flying Tiger pilot Tex Hill.

Add to that group Jeff deBlanc, Marine Corp ace and Medal of Honor winner. Passed on several weeks ago at the age of 86 from pnuemonia.
Like all of that finest generation, a true gentleman and unassuming hero...
