Well, as of the mail delivery yesterday...I am now the proud owner of a Twelve-pack of Mosin Nagants!!...

...and...Mosin #12 is one I have been on the lookout for!!...an SCW Mosin m91/30...

...It has many, but not all, of the criteria that make it a true SCW!!...1936 Izhevsk, "made in USSR" marking on the receiver but no other import markings, Spanish handguard, non-refurb'd condition, has the cleaning rod, but no sling hangers (maybe someone broke them when cleaning the firearm previously?)...

...all in all, I am pretty pleased so far...bore look surprisingly clean and sharp!!...so...what kind of sling did these SCW's get used with??...what about the bayonets??...

...I will post pics when I get a chance to get some diffuse light to take the photos in...AND...I will add all of the appropriate info to the SCW serial number survey...PLUS...I will also send some pics to one of our resident SCW gurus to add to his website, as this is a nice example of an SCW Mosin...

...Pics to follow!!...

bayonet would have been the standard spring-catch 91/30 bayonet, the sling could either be the standard soviet web sling or the spanish leather sling issued for their Mauser rifles.

...Is there any way to tell a SCW used bayonet vs. a standard Soviet bayonet???...

...and...how does one tell the difference between a Soviet sling and one that was used by the Spanish???...AND/OR...where would one find one of those Spanish leather slings???...

Here is some information I have gleaned from my new SCW m91/30:

1936 Izhevsk Round low-wall receiver
1936 Izhevsk barrel shank with SN 197346
Late style Izhevsk bolt body with SN 164022
Late Izhevsk magazine with SN 183253
Tula buttplate with SN 14448
Early Izhevsk cocking knob
Early flat tangent rear sight
Early post and globe front sight
Pre to early WW2 style screwed in sling slots
split Izhevsk barrel bands
milled barrel band springs (front scrubbed/rear Tula)
Late Tula nosecap...

...PLUS...

spanish made hand-guard
"made in U.S.S.R." mark on receiver
heavily sanded stock
no import markings (besides the made in U.S.S.R. mark)
not refurb'd....

I will take lots of pictures...SOON!!...

...any thoughts or input so far??...anything is appreciated as always!!!...

Does anyone have a comprehensive photo-essay-style list of the cleaning rods used with the SCW Mosins?...or, maybe a link to a previous thread showcasing SCW accessories? (slings, bayonets, cleaning rods, etc, etc)...

I picked up a bayonet at a show last year that I think is SCW, all beat and pretty dull, even the serial number is in line with SCW rifles, has the Izhevsk mark, but there is no way to prove that's where it was used.

...and...here are some photos of the defining features that make it a Spanish Civil War (SCW) Mosin...the heavily sanded stock...the "Made in U.S.S.R" stamp...the Spanish handguard...non-refurb'd features...no modern import markings...non-matching SN's in the correct range...

...please comment freely...

...and...Dan...please feel free to use any or all of the photos that will aid your existing website!!...

...Thanks for looking!!...

Wow, that one really defines mismatched. Nice bluin' and wood color. Nice lookin' Spaniard. Rod tip looks smooth, maybe Spanish also? Mine is a '37 Tula. The opposite of yours. Stock and barreled receiver are all Tula and numbers match, bolt is a non-matching Izhevsk. Bright Spanish rod with plain cylindrical tip. These are always interestin' pieces. I like "Rosalita"................
