When and why did the Australians apply green paint to their SLR (L1A1) bayonet scabbards?
Corrosion protection? Jungle use?

probably just someone cammimg it up. We had to strip them after a bush trip and paint them gloss black for guard duties or a parade. Then paint them flat black or cam colours for bush again, never ending cycle. Come from the factory in black.
