A piece of Gunboards' history - or: "When the first board went down".
Incidentally, the oldest remaining posting in the Italian section of the Second Gunboards dates from 31st August, 2003.

Ladies and Gentlemen:

please make good use of the just-opened board archives and save or printout as much as you can. You have only 13 days left !! This board - as well as many others - contains invaluable details and knowledge that are not to be found anywhere else. It would be a shame if such a treasure were lost.

And please, please, PRETTY PLEASE ! All of you that read this... now look at your watch. Reserve yourself 10 minutes' worth of time. Go to the old board. And please, look through it and save one or two substantial and worthwhile threads (those with a lot of original information), in order to transfer and repost them here (cut & paste).
Will you please help our community with this little service, by offering a few minutes of your time, and of your judgement ? Thanks a lot !

Here is the URL:
h**p://207.99.78.53/forums/UltraBoard.cgi
Please take care to set your parameters on the front page to "show all postings", otherwise you will just get an error message.

And if anybody has a bit of server space for a read-only version of the old board (with much lower bandwidth), I would very much appreciate a brief notice or email. It should serve as a repository for research. We have already lost the GunandKnife and the ShootersTalk boards...

Regards and thanks from your moderator,

Alexander Eichener

The old Italian Firearms and Mannlicher fora ("forums" for US readers) were replete with information about all these subjects... have a look there, while they last for 11 days more.

Last range visit in the Old Year 2003

My last range visit today included an Armscor 12/70 pump action, a Swedish m/96 "63" target rifle shot at 25 metres with the short-range practice ammo (great fun, but not *really* accurate), and a M 91/41 Carcano by Armaguerra Cremona (1942, QA serial no., accuracy marked, a gun which I has bought many years ago from Dennis Kroh when he was still a bit cheaper ;-)).

The 139 grains Prvi Partizan ammo exhibited the usual bad extraction (tightly mirroring every detail of the chamber walls) and abysmal accuracy. Five shots spread into a pattern of maybe 10"-12" at 100 metres. Ick !
I was lacking Norma ammo this time, and fired some mixed surplus. Many duds and some ammo-attributed flyers made shooting difficult, but most rounds went into a 4" group; not too bad with open sights and 50 to 70 years old ammo.

Best regards,
