Looking to get info on locating componets and data for reloading for the type 26 revolver.Anybody have any sources of brass, bullets,or dies? I dont have a revolver yet, just trying to find out how much trouble this will be if I take the plunge so to speak. Thanks.

I've heard that you can fire 38 long colt or 38s&w in this revolver with no problems. It's one or the other but i forget which. Maybe other members know more.

.38 S&W can sometimes fit, and sometimes not. However, .38 Short Colt does fit, but haven't actually fired any yet.

I use .38 S&W brass, size them in a 9mm Luger sizer die and I load 2.5 grains of red dot with a copper plated 147 grain 9mm bullet, produces about 600 fps from my guns, which is about what the original load was supposed to do. Both of my T-26’s will chamber .38 S&W brass but I am reluctant to try to fire factory .38 S&W ammo in them, the factory bullet diameter is .360, that may be a bit larger than the original (have not slugged the bores of either of mine) Japanese rounds were.
Good luck!
Jeff

Jeff,

Thanks for the info. I don't have any 38 s&w brass. But I have a lot of 38 special brass I could possibly turn down to length. What length is you 38 s&w case if you dont mind checking?I also have all the 9mm stuff allready so maybe this will be easy.

Shortening .38 Special cases should work fine, the .38 S&W cases are .765” long. You could trim your .38 Special brass off at the standard trim to length for 9mm Luger (.751”) too, I just used .38 S&W brass because I had them and I would not need to trim them at all. This is shorter than the standard Japanese round, but it works fine.
Regards,
Jeff
