How accurate are those refurbished snipers.( the ones with post ww2 scopes and mounts) has anyone shot one of those, are they any good?

Just get one. They are generally very nice for the price. I'm taking mine out for a breath of fresh air tomorrow.

For the money they're good, but they are put togethers from standard infantry rifles and not ex-snipers.

They are not refurbished snipers. They are regular, off the wall, rifles with replica/reproduction scopes installed.

Mine out shoots my refurbished X-sniper.

If the latest ones from IO are like the one I got a year ago, then they are a good deal. They are, or were, Ukraine arsenal put together “replicas” using reproduction scopes, mounts, and bases on decent refurbed 91/30’s. They even took the time to stamp match the numbers on the rifle with the receiver matching the scope serial # and the mount matching the rifles serial number just like the originals. I have heard that the arsenal done ones are gone and that the current batch are being done in house. If that’s true then I am not sure what you will be getting. Hopefully someone who has gotten one recently will give some current info.

Depends on the rifle as some will be great shooters and others will not. I think with IO you have the best bet as they do use ones with good bores.

How well does that post-war scope compare to the originals and do you know if they are made in the Ukraine or Germany?

Are the SOG rifles the same? IO imported, regular 91/30 rifles?

The repro rifles seem to be similar. However, some are being constructed with aluminum bases and/or mounts. Avoid these at all cost. Ask specifically for all-steel base and mount before you buy. An aluminum base is weak and not in spec with a steel base and not a swap-out operation (my experience with one). IO is a sponsor here, be sure to mention the board.
My personal experience with aluminum:
I purchased a repro rifle with an aluminum base that was swapped for a steel by the original purchaser. Unknown and not revealed in pictures, it was out of spec, they hogged out the pin holes in the mount by drilling 7mm holes to get it to fit. Very lame. The saving grace was the original PU scope. I was able to redrill and tap the main mounting screws which are non-standard (they were tapped 5mm vs 6mm) and relocating the pins. I used a new steel repro base and mount.

There is a review on these on the sniper board. The reproductions optics are in many cases if not all -superior to the originals as they are very sharp optically and nitrogen filled. They are newly made and not 65 years old after all.

I bought a CENTURY imported fake sniper, it has the steel base and mount, and I concur with Vic about the scope. althpugh it is a repro, it's a very nice one, the optics are very clear and sharp and not all scratched up and fuzzy like some of the originals I looked through.

for those that will get the fake snipers, you will have to tune the base of the mount to the rifle, then fine tune it by using the elevation and windage on the scope itself........ it's not a simple matter of just slapping it on and adjusting the crosshairs. the crosshairs are not like modern scope where no matter how you adjust the crosshairs it stays in the middle of the filed of view, these repro scope adjust like the originals........you may want to bookmark or print out how to adjust the scope to the rifle:

How can you tell if the base or mounts are aluminum?

You should be able to tell by looking at it -- aluminum can't be blued, so it won't match the rifle finish very well. If that fails you can always try sticking a magnet to it.
