Pardon my ignorance but I just saw a documentary of National Geographic about WWII. "Apocalypse", this part was named "American allies".
In the last 15 minutes or so one could notice formentioned sniper with the closed bolt handle on the left side instead of on the right side. The scene (during the siege of Stalingrad) is very clear but lasts only a couple of seconds. Never saw one and never heard of one but I'm not a collector and although mine shoots like dream have no book about MN's.
Just curious.

The answer is, of course, no left-hand Mosins.
A sniper in the defense of Leningrad lost his right eye and trained himself to shoot left handed with a right-hand Mosin ("Red Sniper on the Eastern Front") and others "crept" over the rifle to shoot scoped rifles with the left eye, easily possible with the high-mount Soviet scopes.

Of course, that's what I thought (but couldn't express out of ignorance). The "mirror effect" isn't unknown to all those that have seen the negative of a film upside down (like your servant). Thank you, gentlemen, for your insight!
