Has anyone converted their Mosin Nagant to this caliber? Can you make some comments?

Not yet. It is in the que. Looks like a great cartridge and a relatively easy conversion.

I'm thinking that, as well. I hope I don't get the fever for one. Just a pie dream at present. I have read they have been used in both Finland and Russia. Whar are your thought on a barrel? A new one, or drill out the old one and rerifle it? I don't know if even that is possible.

If its a 9.3 it needs a .366" bullet and that size bullet and barrel is going to be pretty scarce in this country, possibly expensive.
How about either a .358 or .375 Wildcat?

McGowen has 9.3/.366 barrel blanks. Chrome moly 1-12 twist, $155.00. For that price I will go with new rather than try to bore and re-line. PTG reamer and it is set.

There is a gent that goes by the handle "Lancaster" on the nitro express forum. He's been in the building stages of a 9.3x54r on a moisin action, commercial barrel and some other goodies. You may want to visit and if you can do a search for his posts and pics. Suffice to say the standard moisin mag will not take this cartridge without some massaging. Mostly in the front end of the mag. Frank

The price of 9,3 projectiles is rather expensive in my region. For the reloader (which I am) shooting a lot of them in the past made me decide to buy a mould and pour them with 100% Linotype lead and fast powder. If I were only a hunter this wouldn't ever been an option of course ... the price of the ammo would easily be forgotten while contemplating the good meat that hunters take home. BTW, 9,3x62 FN rifle and one round costed two and a half USD in that time in Belgium.

What about a 338x54r??? It would almost be in the same class as the 338/06 a-square. It is a round that is definately underated.
