Has amyone here,modified a 8x57 98 mauser to take the 7.92x33 kurz cartridge?.I was thinking of doing this as a small machining project....I know its not very practical from a shooting standpoint but the idea interests me.

Don't know of anyone who has done something like this. But usually when using shortened cartridges in a mauser style magazing you may have to shorten the follower in the front and install a block in the front end of the magazine. That's about the sum of my knowledge on the subject. Frank

I am sure it would require that,I could possibly modify the original follower and use a different width spring (maaybe one out of a short AK mag or similar).It may be that there are different model rifles better suited also for this caliber,something I will have to investigate.I think I can get a .323 blank made locally so no issues there.

Well,I managed to pick up a already cut-down Czech VZ33 for this project....if the barrel looks Ok when it arrives I guess I will use that for my 'kurz' mauser.

Why would you chamber an 8MM for a ctg that costs $1 a round when you can shoot standard 8MM for 20 cents? I bet 8MM Kurtz chamber reamers are scarcer then hens teeth. This is a very impractical project.

Thats the whole point....its a project (that interests ME).I will be making the reamer,and doing all the machining myself,the only thing it will cost me is time.
