Man, there must be a lot of avid 5.45x39 fans out there. This topic has been a hot item for the last couple of weeks.

It's not the end of the world guys. Sure, the steel core (and possibly the steel jacketed) ammunition will be banned from import or sale, but if there is a demand for the ammo, someone will fill it. Don't forget, there are several handgun cartridges, plus the 7.62x39 and 7.62mm NATO, that have been restricted for over 20 years and yet the guys shooting all of those cartridges have adapted.

Jumping on the poor slob who built a pistol in 5.45x39 is not going to gain anything. Writing you Congressman is not going anywhere either. Calling the BATF&E names is like water off a duck's back.

The ban is very likely going to happen. Start looking for other options.

I just done see the point of banning the ammo just because someone made an AR pistol in that caliber...

The law banned the so-called "cop killer" ammo used in handguns. It was never the intention to ban rifle ammunition but the libs saw a way to get some of them by declaring the cartridges as handgun ammo because there were legitimate handguns chambered for them. Never mind that there are handguns chambered for a lot more of the rifle cartridges that are not banned, yet. It's really got little to do with handguns or AP ammo. It's all part of the anti-gun movement and probably is not going to get better until there is a big sweeping change in the public attitude toward guns in general. Will that happen? I'm pessimistic. I was a young shooter when the 1968 GCA was passed and we all thought that would be the end of it. But, as we have seen, it wasn't even close to the end. All of us old guys have learned to adapt and so will you.
