I saw this ad on GB, it explains using a 7.62 x 39 chamber insert, can anyone tell me is this true, and if so where could I buy one,

there is a guy in alaska that makes them. I bought one but never got around to putting it in a rifle(yet). Try searching for MCA Sports on the web. Took months to get it so don't be in a hurry.

If you want to feed more than one at a time from the magazine, extensive mods will be required.

Would not the Chicom modification of the shortened follower with the block in the rear used on the 38s work? I've had a few of these that fed as if they were made for the 7.62x39 (and some that didn't!)

Hope to try out my 7.7 converted to .30-06 with the 06 to .308 insert next month. Only had the rifle and insert for about 10 years, but #1 son has a 100 yard range in his back yard. (Smart kid, takes after his Dad.)

Yes, that should work; the one I have with the "other" mag mod doesn't feed very well, or at all.

But for fun, a single shot will work.

The web site is mcace.com The chamber inserts are for Japanese T-99 rifles re-chambered to 30-'o6 they work just fine but are single shot as the 7.62x39 rounds are too short

Well, not all chamber inserts are for .30-06; mine is marked as and clearly the shape of the 7.7x58.
I think he makes either one.

last I knew they'd make anything you wanted..if they didnt have it then they have you send a spent case or a chamber casting...why a person would change a t-99 in original configuration to some other under-powered buggered up chambering eludes me tho, 7.7 ammo is cheap, plentiful and full powered...why go to the bother to redo all the feed and everything when its not going to be as good as the original when your finished..I can understand playing with the 30-06/308 stuff if person wants, but why mess with a original 7.7????

03 man--It's good to know that Ace makes chamber inserts for the 7.7 ,but the T 99 I have that was re-chambered for 30-'06 shot so poor that I couldn't keep it on a 8 inch target at 50 yards, with the 7.62x39 ammo I can keep all shots on a paper pate at 100 yds offhand.>>Don

Ive never saw one of the 30-06 ones that shot well..I wonder if you neck sized it to take a 7.7 size bullet .311-.312 if that would tighten up the groups...thatprobably why the 7.62x39works better in it also, its already the right size .311
