hi there i am trying to id some 500 rd's of new brass i have ,it is head stamped k-p i purchased from midway back in the late 80's does any body have some info on it ? any help would be apprecieted . i have only seen a few post's on the net saying it is related to lapua as a american subsidery .

Yes, Finnish made. My understanding that this was from a large contract order that never fully materialized. The K-P stands for two names, Kaltron and Pettibone, the name of the main US importer for Lapua at the time. I never saw live ammunition, only a dummy cartridge that had a live primer and white sand as a filler... Was this bought as virgin brass?

I got the same cases from Midway back in the 1990's. They're Lapua. I had a few run-offs in my SKSs with Remington cases that used small rifle primers. Nothing like having 8-10 slam fires in a row to get your attention. So I changed to Winchester and these K-P cases with large primer pockets. Problem solved. Good cases. I still use them 15 years later.

what brand of primers were you using in the remington case's? i have some new reminton from midway purchased at the same time with small primer pocket's also about 400 rd's .ususally all with cci you dont have a problem with semi auto . i use winchester in the bolt action's .
