I can't help you other than the bump (but I'll see what other odd info I might find from my Kentucky -Civil War resource material at home).
I do have a few questions though.
What County was your GGG grandfather from, what nationality (other than American) was he identified with, and what was his religion if you know?
In Tennessee and Kentucky some rather odd lines (county, religion, country of origin) were drawn in determining whether someone went to the Confederate side or Union.
