It's a neat carbine, but not 4k worth of neat, not to me anyway... Perhaps because seller is willing to take credit card and some people don't think it's the same as spending your own cash?

A fool and his money ........ I can see no (reasonable) reason why this sold for over $4k. Wonder if the seller would manage my 401k ???

No, this seller does not take credit cards. However, thems of us who have dealt with him trust the guy pretty far as far as condition descriptions and service while realizing that his knowledge is sometimes lacking. I've bought from him and will do so again, but I'll only pay a slight premium for his stuff and WON"T get involved in the knock-down drag-out stupity shown in this auction. Yep, let's all check back in a week or so to see if this is an actual sale....

I have a 91/38 that is very nice. Matching and all. Purchased it when I first saw them advertised for about $79.99 when I ordered two. Can't believe anyone wants one bad enough to pay $4K.

That price is patently riduculous! Somethings HINKY here! lol I looked at it this afternoon and was amazed to see it at over $1K with 5 hours to go....

Damn! If that's the case.... I have a 2 91/38's..... a 1906 Izhevsk based one in the same type of beech stock as that Sestroyetsk, (looks BETTER than the one sold), AND an 1891 Izhevsk based example in the original cut down stock.... Granted, you rarely see ANY Sestroyetsk Mosins these days.. but DAAAAAMN! Gotat be a shill bidder..

Woo hooo , I'm RICH!!! lol I too have bought guns from that seller. I no complaints.... what I wonder is, how does he finds this stuff in a little town damn near on Canada's border in NY.....?????

He always seems to have a good inventory of hard to find examples.... TO Dennis Kroh, do you know who that seller is?

Hell-- I bought a Ross M10 MKIIIB from him last year-- I was quite happy with it

I am going to lose my #&*%ing mind! :mad Over $4000 for a common rifle worth no more than $400.

I had absolutely zero interest when I recently offered my Polish 8mm 91/98/25 conversion for less than $2000. A genuinely rare and desirable rifle. And some schmoe pays more than twice that for a common rifle. And lest anyone think it is merely jealousy on my part, it is far, far more than that. This is yet more evidence that right and wrong have been turned upside down. There is just no way that this is possible in a rational and just world. With each passing day I find less and less common ground that I can share with the "masses". Either "they" are insane, or I am. And I know that I'm not. :)
I hope, no I pray, that the dumbass purchaser is reminded every day for the rest of his life that he paid 10 freaking times what that rifle is "worth".

Richard,
It is not a common rifle. It is a combination of some very interesting parts/features... basically it is a parts gun ;) very neat, but silly overpriced.

Looks like Larry maybe got a new camera. Or the M44 stock, ep'd bolt, force matched butt plate...or even the slightly bent rod. The last two bidders can't be serious. Think they're yankin' Larry's chain and makin' a statement. They both have feedback though. Not much. No way is the winnin' bidder gonna' pay. It's funny.

Maybe the last two bidders are part of a buy back program, based in Chicago. Hussein sent them a few million to buy up every firearm on GB, and save the world. One bolt action at a time.....

Vit:

I know exactly what it is and in my opinion, and I can only speak for myself, it is a common rifle. I purchased my first example back around 1987 and I have purchased more than a few since.

I had plenty of interest in your 91/98/25, but a serious lack of funds :(

Would a mint original antique Sestroryetsk M91 be worth that kind of money? A rich collector will know his stuff, and not blow big money on a carbine like this. It's a lark. And a funny one. Larry will not get the money.
