I just got this Nagoya 3rd series T99. The bolt and dustcover are a mis-match, but match each other. The interesting thing about this is the metal tag on the side of the butt, it looks to me to be the same as the tag on trainers, but I was not aware that the Japanese used T99's for training or schools. Any help would be appreciated.

Nate - almost certain this was done as a post-war "enhancement." The tag belongs on a Kaneyama T-38 long rifle trainer. The tag translates, along the top, "Toyohashi" and, along the bottom, "Kaneyama Provided."
