So I scored the beauty 28/30. Apparently it’s safe to use modern Russian commercial Ammo. My Barnaul 148 boxes say it’s safe in 7.62x53r rifles.

But how about Prvi? I’d like to get some 174 up to 208 grain Ammo, to see what the M39 and 28/30 can do, what they like best.

There’s this stuff from a trusted seller,
7.62X54R FMJ 182 Grain Ball Prvi - PP76254B. Military overrun with sealed primers. Any opinions? Thanks.

I’m not slugging the barrel and all that, I’m not gonna use surplus. Ever.

Thank you Mangrove.

I’ve read many conflicting pronouncements on this. The only real problem I can ascertain is the length of the chamber.

Concerning the bore, how many reports have been made documenting catastrophic barrel failures with .308 diameter bores with so-called “.311 bullets blowing up the barrel”. I can’t find any.
