A sad and unnecessary war, and the madman's insane son may be gearing up for repeat.
I sincerely hope that is the situation, sir. But when dealing with a crazy, even a very cunning crazy, it is hard to tell what he may have in mind. And - while I'm pretty sure the NORKs WOULD get creamed if they pull the trigger, it would also be real expensive in treasure and blood. And - hard to say what the result in terms of political ramifications elsewhere might be - what would Japan do? For one potential major shift.I dunno, I suspect if he tries a real shooting war his country would get creamed in short order. I think he's rattling sabers to keep the natives united against the outside threat.
Same reason the CBI is often called "The Forgotten Theater" and the British XIVth Army "The Forgotten Army". Some of us know, but the general populace hasn't a clue. Ask around about Bill Slim, for example.I have never understood why it's called "The Forgotten War." I can remember reading about in comic books in the 1950s, I recall the "Korea Story" episode of the Steve CanyonTV program of the late 1950s.
One thing I like to do is tell those who view defense spending as a drain on the country's resources is that I will throw them into the Quantum Leap Transporter and they will find themselves as a GI on July 5, 1950. They can come back a year later and then weill discuss defense spending.
