Well, I felt inspired to dig out the camera tonight and capture some pics of my two Series 7 T99s.

The late one is matched, 'Mummed and has staked screws.
The interesting "sling" was on the rifle when I bought it, and I've made no attempt to untie it. It also has a different rear sight than most of the other Sub. T99s.

The mid-series is matched, ground 'Mum, but has been painted black.
It appears that the 'Mum was ground after it was painted black.

Hey 00 3Mmmmm :
What the arsenal did was to cut and use up "D" rear sight bases and gas weld the battle sight of a leaf to form the "G" rear sight. By the time of the 8th series they then manufactured the typical "E" rear sight. Improvisation my friend, that is what we see on the entire 7th series.
