Here are a couple of Argentine Engineer Carbines that I aquired from two great board members. This is the first chance Ive taken to see how they perform. Had to shoot to the 50yd. Target though. Need a boat to get to the 100yd targets.
Yea, I know. I did see a Remington come up for auction last year. I understand they (whoever THEY are) used to modify them to fit. Dont know how true that is?
It was the Argentines who modified the Remington Rolling Block bayonets to work on the M1891 Engineer Carbines around 1925 (I guess after the Cavalry got new M1909 Carbines). Apparently they ran out of old bayonets to modify because they also made some new similar bayonets.
Its an optical illusion. The one with the light wood (the 1909) is really 4 inches longer than the dark one (the 1891). For comparison, the 1909 is two inches shorter than the German K98. They are not what I would consider "rare", but Ive not seen a lot of either one around.
