I recently added an excellent condition .308 Ishapore to the Enfield rack. However, I can't seem to make any of my English or Australain made MKIII bayonets fit. The bayonet lug seems to need some work with a file, which I don't wish to do on such a nice original rifle. Is this a common problem? Would a late Indian made MK III bayonet fit?

I found the "boss" on the nose cap of my post independance No1 MkIII was slightly oval in shape and it required a small amount of filing in the muzzle ring of the bayonet to make it fit satisfactory.

I should however make it clear that the bayonet was of Indian origin and I would not attempt to make my hooked quillion Patt 07 Mole fit this particular rifle!

Thanks. I'll get an Indian made bayonet and see how that works.

After cleaning off some of the black paint it's a little bit better, but it would still need a hammer to get the bayonet on and off.
