did Mauser ever make these pistols in nickle or chrome finish?

a local guy wants to trade it to me, and i basically told him it has been bubba'd and isnt worth much at all.

he told me i dont know what im talking about, he had done the "research" and it is correct.

i think he has at least been mislead by someone, but just wanted to ask here as these pistol are not exactly my forte.

I can find no mention of them having been made plated. But chroming was popular with WWII GI bringbacks.

I have not seen or heard of an original Mauser 1934 coming from the factory with a nickel or chrome finish. But as jjk308 said, many GIs did it to the weapons they acquired

this is the last e-mail he sent me.:

"I'm sorry you're right, It is a 7.65. It's been a while since I've even researched the gun but when I did, I spent days looking it up! This gun was made at the end of that production in which they use parts from both the last and the next production in which I believe the handle and some other part were changed. But what happens is that they used parts from both production runs to finish up that last run as they don't just throw them away. That is why it ended up with the 34 handle and the rest of the parts are from the newer 1935 model. Don't quote me on which year it ended and began but I am sure about it being one of them that fall in that small group of pistols that had both runs involved, And again, you can take this gun apart and all serial #'s match! I had help from a fellow that was a big time collector and he told me also you could tell if it had been reblued with the nickel silver from the texture or something and he said it definitely was not, and that it was original and also we had come to the conclusion that the serial #'s are right in the middle of the change of the production run where as it would have parts from both runs! Anyhow, I don't have what you're looking for so good luck with your sale or searches!"

i really think someone gave him false info.
i cant find anything on a model 1935 Mauser pistol at all. (probably doesnt exist)

There is no model 1935 Mauser pistol.

Try mauser.com or mouseguns.com. Both sites, particularly mauser.com, have complete histories including photos of the prewar Mauser pistols.
I used that site to determine the probable production date of my 1914.

You got it right the first time. But it's futile arguing with someone whose mind is already made up. Tell him it was probably Hitler's personal gun and he should donate it to the Smithsonian.

Wow, I know this is an old post but after reading it I thought you all should know that Mauser did nickle plate 1910,1914, 1934 and WTP (vest pocket models). This does not mean if you have a plated pistol it was done at the factory. Even experts have a hard time verifying a factory nickle finish but Mauser sales brochures list the nickle finish as an option as well as factory inventory records. Regards,
