I just purchased this M95 Nagant on Gunbroker and thought I'd post a link in order to get you guys' opinion on it.

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=117051818

It appears to not be a refurb is why I went ahead and purchased it although it has an older Century import mark. I normally collect 1920's era when it comes to M95 Nagants and Mosin Nagant rifles but I just couldn't resist it. I've never had the opportunity to purchase a non-refurbed M95 Nagant, or Mosin Nagnat, that I could afford until I stumbled upon this little pistol. It's going to be a Christmas gift to me from my family.

Probably not a refurb. I don't see the marks that are usually associated with a rearsenal. Additionally, the rearsenal process was to bring the guns up to the current standard at the time of the rework. It still has the half moon front sight which would have been changed out. DO the numbers on the cylinder, etc. match?
Post pictures when you get the gun!

I don't know if the cylinder numbers match or not. Since it had a fairly inexpensive "buy it now" I figured I'd best not ask questions that I would have to wait on. Therefore I saved copies of the pics to my PC, blew them up to look it over as best I could, and decided I best buy it quick. I too noticed the unaltered front sight, dark original looking grips, no rework marks on the side shown, and the lack of the serial number around the trigger guard. I'll be sure to post some pics when I receive it. The seller said he would probably ship it today.

Thank you. I won't be able to pick it up. The seller is up by Champaign Illinois and I'm way down in Southern Illinois. It's being shipped. I didn't ask if he had any others as I've spent to much lately. I just purchased a PCCP 1923 M95 Tula from J&G as well as a couple of Mosin Nagants consisting of a 1931 Izvesk MO/52, 1936 hex receiver Tula ex-sniper, and a 1944 Izvesk M44 MO/53 from a fellow board member. I'm tapped and must get off my rear and sell some duplicates, parts, and culls from my collection that I have been meaning to for a while now.

Apenflage, Good catch !! I looked at this one pretty hard when it was first posted and almost hit the "buy now" several times. Decided to think about it over night, then you grabbed it. Sometimes it is fun to see if anyone on the board spots a good find. I think you did well. Can we expect some good pics after you get it?

Neat gun for the money, even better if it matches. Gotta point out one thing though. I suspect it has at least been refinished. Otherwise, the hammer, trigger and a couple of other parts would be fire blued. Hard to tell about these things from pictures, I could be wrong. Even if it is refinished, still a really good one for the money.

Thanks. I've done that as well so many times. I'm a want to know the details and see good pictures before I buy type person, but have started to take a chance now and then especially when the price is right. I've lost out on many good deals waiting for better info on something.

Yes, I too enjoy seeing of others here on the boards find the same deal. I'll watch milsurps that are great deals, highly collectible, or just interesting even if I don't plan on bidding. Just so I can see who wins, how much, and if it's a Gunboards member or not. I enjoy seeing others get great additions.

I will post some better pic after it arrives. My camera isn't great but it does much better pics than those posted in the auction. Tracking info says Monday delivery but I have an AM doctors appointment. I hope I'm back before UPS gets here. I have some rifles that may come Monday as well.

I've been wondering about a possible refinish after looking at the pics more as well. Even in those bad pics it looks like the bluing is even and the same in all areas. Even if it's a refinish, and turns out non-matching, I will still be very happy with it. Now I have to order some more Nagant ammo.

It arrived today and I must say I'm very happy with it. It looks much better in person than in the auction photos. The first thing I noticed is all of the finish is a gloss blue, except for maybe the barrel bluing looks duller to me, with a case hardening/straw look to it in the light. My cameras flash unfortunately washes it out and makes it look dull grey. The trigger looks to have the straw look as well. Numbers match on the cylinder and frame. I haven't dissembled it yet to check on the inside. Got a real surprise on the left side, 1 in triangle DDR mark. Under the front sight on the barrel is a Tula star and the trigger guard and frame bear the marking as well. The ejection rod has the Tula hammer. Speaking of the rod, the assembly swings out easily and nicely, the rod pushes in out easily as well. This is unlike many refurbed Nagant's I've owned and own. I always wondered if the new dip finish is what made some of them hard to operate. The crown is polished although not in recent times.

Opinions welcome on the finish and whether its been reworked at some time or not.

Nice! Could you give us a close up of the Acceptance Commission marks on the frame (right rear side of the frame). It should be a star and a 'C', but it looks like it has other marks as well.
Does it still have the 'V' shaped rear sight notch?

Yes it still has the V notch rear sight and not the later and slightly wider U notch. It has the star and C proofs as well as what looks like an E, 8, and a B.

The diamond 'C' and the star are original and the rest of the marks were probably added by the DDR. For reference, what is the approximate serial number of this gun?

Here is a normal 1930 PK mark.

Again, nice find!

Very VERY nice :).

As a side note, I'm working out of town and have been keeping a 9mm Ruger p85 as my nightstand weapon for the last several months. This last trip home I left it with my wife (along with the .357 she has) and am using my 1938 Tula in the Ruger's place. These are super pistols and I love mine :)

Interesting Nagant, I have one just like it, same date, tula, same finish, DDR marked. It is serial # 19882, only 82 numbers away from your gun if I am reading it right. I believe these to have been redipped at some point but other than that no updated features or evidence of formal rearsenal rework. Now all you have to do is find an East German Nagant holster. I was fortunate to come across one. They are out there.

Nothing wrong with it being a refurb. That's basically all I have in Nagant pistols other than this one and it may have had a re-blue refurb at one time or another.

That's three of us with 1930 Nagants in the 19000 range.
