So the 'front end is safe to use' but the back end is not to be used with live ammunition.

Confused !

Description says it great condition but red band (if original butt stock to rifle), may indicate otherwise. Yellow nose indicates marginal condition for shooting. Interesting twist of features, I wonder how many just like it came here to USA, bought and owners removed yellow nose paint and any color bands on wood...replaced or refinished wood and those rifles are floating around with perhaps risk to shoot or maybe not.

I wish we had a color system of sorts to paint the noses of our politicians

Modified nosecaps and numbering: Were they done one at a time, or were a rack full of nosecaps removed and sent in a bin over to the machinery?

Who was the certified nosecap sorter prior to reassembly? (Smartassed rhetorical question)

Cadet rifles were also done at base workshops. Using civilian employees under direct supervision.
At one time on the boards, there were those who participated in the rebuild program during the late 50’s into the 60’s.
Not saying they did the painting.
