Red noses and yellow streaks down their backs.Dont they all have red noses from booze?
It is matching…..just not from 1923. I find it interesting that the nosecap remained matching after a 1947 rebuild. So many are blank.Surely no one is silly enough to pay that much money for that.
1923 dated actions are rarer for sure, but would even a matching example (I have only seen two) sell for that much?

I should have worded it better. A matching, non rebuild/FTR rifle with a 1923 dated action. It is matching…..just not from 1923. I find it interesting that the nosecap remained matching after a 1947 rebuild. So many are blank.
I knew what you meant, just being pedantic like some others can be…I should have worded it better. A matching, non rebuild/FTR rifle with a 1923 dated action.
Correct, you see a lot of late 40’s rebuilds with cut ears and no serial number. I’d ask the question of the seller, but I’ve had little luck with him replying of late…Anthony, the nosecap has either been replaced or had the ears cut as per instructions. So if cut, then orginal with serial number, if replaced why serial numbered when as you said this practice was discontinued.
Yes mate it is. I’ve found predominantly, those rebuilds from 1944 to 1947 have unnumbered nosecaps, but some are numbered. It is matching…..just not from 1923. I find it interesting that the nosecap remained matching after a 1947 rebuild. So many are blank.
I have asked this before, were all these rebuilds done at the same place, if not this might explain the discrepancy with numbering all parts....Yes mate it is. I’ve found predominantly, those rebuilds from 1944 to 1947 have unnumbered nosecaps, but some are numbered.
