First thing to do is lose the Cocking Piece ( WWII design); Then decide whether you want a full Mark III Period Piece restoration...which will require a Volley sight forearm, with relevant Parts, as well as a Sling swivel Trigger Guard, and sundry other typical Mark III parts.( Cutoff plate, etc)

Just think, a rifle within the First 30,000 made by Lithgow... I know, it will never be as valuable as a complete original, untouched one ( did I hear Rocking Horse Apples Falling???) but it can be restored into a good representative 1915 Piece with a bit of diligent searching. And remember, 2015 is just three years away...My Toolmaking companion-in-arms is preparing Key rings for the 100th of the LH Charge at Beersheba, hoping to go there for the Centenary. (For members of the ALH Association- Centenary medallion, key chain, 1917 Mark VI dummy round, with affixed 1917 SilverThreepenny piece.)

Regards,
Doc AV

I'm offended Doc. You needed a toolmaker and didn't even ask me.

Do it mate. Bolt and barrel but what is the butt? Wait while I brace myself.

Hang on, what wood was on it?
Demo, the barrel is a replacement, the date on it has been scrubbed leaving only the month, the bolthead has '52 on it & if you look to the right of the s/n you can see 53 stamped over the inspection marks, forend is Coachwood, butt looks like walnut, but unidentified as yet.

Finally got the butt off.
They have probably been together for 97 years & now separated for good.

Great to see an old lady restored to her original beauty. Extremely jealous!
Did you manage Lithgow bits and pieces?
Looks good, you must be pleased no doubt.

I Used the Lithgow large star trigger guard & rear sight protectors that came with it, fitted a Lithgow MA'41 cutoff & a BSA cocking piece & windage rear sight & dropped it into English woodwork with a un-numbered EFD nose cap.
A Mix master, but quite pleased with the result.
Happy to send you a cocking piece and swop the cut-off plate for a lithgow star. Probably find you a lithgow nosecap and a windage sight as well. Let me know 5th
