Plates from a Finnish Manual for the Mosin Nagant

Stan Zielinski

Some years ago I bought a copy of the manual whose cover page is shown at the left. This is a Finnish manual on the Finnish version of the Russian Mosin Nagant, printed in Finland in 1940. While the main body of the manual is in Finnish text with no illustrations, inside the back cover there are a series of 9 plates (or drawings) illustrating the parts of the two versions then in use. Since there seems to be considerable interest these days in these Finnish rifles, I thought the readership might be interested in seeing these illustrations. The actual illustrations are a series of fold out sheets, one per illustration, which I have scaled down to fit the pages here. For those interested in shooting these rifles, perhaps the target shown in plate 9 could be reproduced.
