Truth Or Rumor, The 1920 Luger Carbine

I hear over and over that the 1920, 9mm was made primarily with left over parts. What parts. Every part of my Carbine is new and pristene. The 9mm barrel was never used that I'm aware on any luger up till then. Is it myth or Truth. Lets prove this fact, one way or another. I would really like to hear from anyone owning both models.

Eric, I own niether. Now that we have established my lack of credentials :-) I believe the term "left over parts" refers to unused inventory that remained in the DWM factory after 1918. Most of this inventory would have been from parts intended for military production, some from parts not up to mlitary standards, and some from commercial parts inventory.
This wide variety of unused but previously manufactured inventory are what make the post WWI lugers so interesting and also difficult to identify. The factories of the Weimar Republic were doing everything they could to survive and using their old parts inventory was one of those things. Labor was cheap, even highly skilled labor, in this period so hand finishing parts to fit was, at that point in time, an inexpensive option.

"Made-up" carbines have been coming out of AZ State and MN State as well for years...so we need to keep that in mind and not bunch all of them together with those of the 1920's era...

Where do I look to find a comparative value for insurance purposes! Can't find a semi recent or any sale for that matter!
